Baker Bean If you had seen Baker Bean when he first arrived at Days End Farm Horse Rescue, you would cringe at his condition. He was one of the many skinny horses rescued from a pasture with little food or water, following a several-month investigation. Baker Bean was the skinniest of the bunch. He had intestinal parasites, was breathing irregularly and limping badly. It turned out later that he was much older than the four months he appeared to be. At first, Baker Bean was unresponsive to touch, and wouldn't drink from hand or bucket. His caretakers wondered if he would make it. When he lay down to take a nap, he couldn't get up. Soon, through consistent feeding of softened pellets six times a day - sometimes with humans helping him up so he could get to his food - the little horse slowly began gaining strength. Over the next several months, he got stronger and graduated from mush to free-choice hay. He became healthy and fit and ready for adoption. It was his personality that won him a place in Tina, his adoptor's heart. Baker Bean, is now the picture of health, his mane flowing as hooves fly over lush fields. He loves to frolic with his friends, and win ribbons for the kids who ride him. Now Baker is the star we always knew he could be, and with your donations, horses like Baker Bean will have this desperately needed lifeline.
